Quentin’s Top 20 favorite grindhouse movies

Earlier this week we exclusively treated you to Quentin’s official list of favorite Spaghetti Westerns (check it out if you missed that), and this weekend we’re taking it another step and we’ll present his top 20 list of old grindhouse movies. Our “Man from Hollywood” actually placed very high importance on this list, not only because The GCDb applied a wider definition of the term “grindhouse” (our sister site had posted its own Top 20 list, the reason he came up with his list in the first place) and so he felt he had to put some things straight, but also because as you all know, Quentin is a Professor of grindhouse cinema, he’s got a PhD in grindhouseology if you so will.

So please enjoy Quentin’s official top 20 favorite grindhouse movies list, exclusively at THE GCDb – GRINDHOUSE CINEMA DATABASE, our sister project, an authoritative list from the master himself (click here to discuss in the Forums)

  1. But I've always thought that Langella just wasn't made for film. The camera just doesn't seem to be able to take him in. I wish I'd seen him on stage when he was in his prime.

I began my grindhouse education when I saw Grindhouse: Death Proof just 2 months ago (I know, I'm lame). Thanks for the Top 20 list. I've only heard of half of those movies & only seen a handful thus far.

  8. While it’s trying to make movie-goers laugh, I did not laugh at all. Well, it’s not funny. I would like to compare it to Scary Movie here. Scary Movie makes me laugh so much and the pictures are much better than Grindhouse.

    His upcoming film Inglourious Basterds
    is grindhouse theatrical
classics which Quentin spent a considerable amount of time pouring over
to come up with his definitive picks.

Taste for trashy horror with Tarantino’s ultra-violent crime cool, on top
of a retro framing that hasn’t been seen quite like this since Kentucky Fried Movie.
