And the Oscar goes to… Django Unchained

With all the other awards the last few weeks, with all their acronyms of guilds, like PGA, DGA, WGA etc, and the Globes and the Spirit Awards and all those predictions ( the most interesting actually an article in Forbes) it is now crunchtime and we’ll see with how many Oscars Django Unchained will go home with tonight. The 85th annual Academy Awards are here (and it’s also Sebastian’s birthday, so the award for best birthday goes to him). With all the buzz around the nominated films, and the controversies (as always) surrounding a new Tarantino movie, the awards could yet turn out to be full of surprises.
Django Unchained was nominated for the following categories:
- Best picture (producers Stacey Sher, Reginald Hudlin, Pilar Savone)
- Best original screenplay: Quentin Tarantino
- Best supporting actor: Christoph Waltz
- Best sound editing: Wylie Stateman
- Best cinematography: Robert Richardson
Since Sebastian lives in an utterly inconvenient time-zone for US prime time television, I’ll be your host here tonight, live-blogging as the category winners come in…
Christoph Waltz: Best Supporting Actor – WINNER. Acceptance speech
Quentin Tarantino: Best Original Screenplay – WINNER. Acceptance speech
Christoph does it again! Dr. Schultz takes away the high honor, and his director gets the award for what truly is the best screenplay of the year!
