Django Unchained soundtrack and final theatrical trailer
The Django Unchained soundtrack listing has come out, and not only that, there’s also a nice foreword by Quentin Tarantino himself, explaining quite a novelty in the Tarantinoverse: original contributions. This website has previously broken soundtrack news, if you remember the Hell Ride track listing – a soundtrack which is not available for purchase to date. We apologize for the delay this time, but due to this website being run from a different timezone, sometimes we only get to go after the news a few hours later :) Click here for the press release
This blogpost was just updated with the CD cover art
“I want to thank all the artists who contributed original songs (a first for me) to the picture. Most of these contributions came out of the artists’ own inspiration and their illustration of the film’s soul is invaluable. In addition to the new original songs I am also using a lot of older recordings on the soundtrack – many of which came from my personal vinyl collection. Instead of having the record companies give me new digitally cleaned up versions of these recordings from the 60’s and 70’s, I wanted to use the vinyl I’ve been listening to for years – complete with all the pops and cracks. I even kept the sound of the needle being put down on the record. Basically because I wanted people’s experience to be the same as mine when they hear this soundtrack for the first time.” – Quentin Tarantino

On a related note, there’s a third (and possibly final) theatrical trailer for Django Unchained, which does include some of the actual soundtrack cues. There’s lots of gunshots and hip hop in this one, and it shows the grimmer side of the movie, I would say. The previous trailers, while dramatic, highlighted some of the funnier touches of the movie. This one is all mean.
The runtime of the movie now clocks at 2h and 45 minutes, according to a recent, and very much recommended round table interview at the Hollywood Reporter. If you follow us on Facebook, there’s a lot of other smaller news every day, that doesn’t make the blogpost but you should definitely follow us to stay updated on all the Django you can handle.
I can´t wait for this movie! 2 hours and 45 minutes! All the trailers are awesome!
except from this one. this is really the worst trailer so far… this rap music made this movie look too commercial and teenage comedy action “vin diesel” – ish.
and the original django theme should have lasted for longer.
However, I know the movie wont be like this! I am sure it´s not even Tarantino who makes these trailers! This shit is gonna be awesome!!
Bullseye!
Nice of him to put the 60s and 70s in the possessive tense!
Does anyone know if the song playing at the beginning of the trailer (the one with the whistling and chanting) is the new one by Morricone, “Ancora Qui”? It doesn’t sound like any of the other tracks listed on the soundtrack and I can’t recognize that particular bit from any other movie I’ve seen. Since 100 Black Coffins by Rick Ross is already in the trailer, could it be the new song by Morricone? If it is, it’s amazing!
Never mind. Just found out that’s actually the intro to 100 Black Coffins.
Nice apostrophe in ‘niggas’ up there.
Does anyone know the name of the song that is played in the commercial?
which commercial? have a look here: https://wiki.tarantino.info/index.php/Django_Unchained_Soundtrack
