Late Summer Tarantinoisms

Is it November already? Holy shit. The time went by fast. I actually started compiling the material for this update some time in October or even earlier. The idea was to do a quick rundown of links I found on the new that were worth mentioning, among all the stuff that you find in the universe dominated by a search engine that starts with a G. And don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to be the judge who separates trash from fact, but I really don’t want to write a news update about every little blurb, we have a Facebook and Twitter for that. So here are a few interesting tidbits that have gathered over the last couple of weeks. Just so you are informed, there’s not all too much going on that’s to report, but there’s some candy at the end of this text for those who manage to read through it. We’ll try to keep you posted, and as some of you might now, this website turns 10 this christmas. So stay tuned!

Okay so where to we start. Those interested in the inner workings of Hollywood might want to check out the unauthorized Weinstein documentary that’s coming up and the ruminations and gossip around it (link). There’s another really nice article on the late Sally Menke (link), and here’s a guy who surely said “Hi Sally” quite a few times: an interview with John Travolta on Pulp Fiction (Youtube link). We found an interesting article on tickets for the Friars roast (link), which has of course been postponed. During the last one, Jerry L. Lewis got an award and QT was there (link). Speaking of events, here’s a blog about Tarantino-style cocktails in Venice (link).  In Venice also, the great John Woo on his friendship with Tarantino (link) and a fellow Asian filmmaking legend, there’s an interview with Yuen Woo Ping (link). Turning back to Tarantino, if you’re in real estate, check out the cold-war era US military base in Berlin that’s for sale, it was among other things used as a set for Inglourious Basterds (link). On a sidenote, those loving Machete right now take note, Eli Roth confirms a Thanksgiving script (remember the fake trailer in Grindhouse ?) (link). Exciting. Lastly, I saved the controversial shit for the end. There’s a guy declaring that Quentin is out, and Robert is in. While we love Robert, we sure think this is quite a bold statement (link).
