The numbers are in on Hell Ride

Leonor VarelaThe numbers are in on Hell Ride, which opened limited in the US this friday. Boxofficemojo lists it for only 82 theaters with an average intake on the film of about a thousand US dollars, totalling to an estimated $83,500 on the film’s first weekend. Considering the film’s only $4 million budget, and (I am only guessing wildly here) considering it might only make yet another 100 thousand or so over the course of the coming week or two if they keep it to a low number of theaters like this, it would have to make lots of money in DVD and BluRay sales. No word yet on international releases of the film. Here’s another in-depth interview with Larry Bishop that goes into some more detail on Quentin’s involvement with the picture also. The film has gotten mostly bad to horrible reviews, a few good ones thrown in between, and marketing has been kept fairly low. Personally, I predict a second life for this on BluRay or DVD, the medium which has replaced drive-ins and grindhouses as the way in which today’s cineasts what movies that don’t make the prime spot in the industry.
