Inglourious Basterds, remember that one? Yeah the movie that’s still making close to a million at the box office every day. Reportedly, the US free-tv rights just went to TNT (the pay-tv rights are with Showtime) for about $15 million. Despite all that, the Weinstein Company seems bound to consolidate their business, more lay-offs ahead. Time to make a sequel/prequel, Quentin :)
Basterds will also open the Morelia Film Festival in Mexico, and it’s yet ...

The post Inglourious Basterds to hit TNT in 2012 appeared first on The Quentin Tarantino Archives.

I was already half way out the door when The Weinstein Company put a little New Year’s Eve gift out for us. Their website (they now allow linking to indivual movies, yay) lists August 21, 2009 (mark your calendards, you basterds!) as the official US release date for Inglourious Basterds. Now go and party! (thanks to Joblo and Comingsoon for the heads up)

Killshot is one of the lesser discussed films of the recent years, even though its story is very interesting, mostly because the film hasn’t been released yet, although it is about 3 years old already. The project dates back to Miramax years and was one title of many Elmore Leonard novels that were purchased by the Weinsteins. At one point Quentin Tarantino has even set to play one of the major roles in the ...

The post Killshot not dead yet appeared first on The Quentin Tarantino Archives.

As we reported earlier, the upcoming German DVD release of Grindhouse will be in a 1.85:1 format, which means Death Proof (which was shot in open-matte Super35mm or something, I guess) will be slightly more ‘open’ than its theatrical exhibition of 2.35:1 cinemascope format. The producers of the German DVD have confirmed that this is the official PAL master from The Weinstein Company, and they have also let it be known that the Japanese ...

The post More clarification on German and Japanese Grindhouse DVDs appeared first on The Quentin Tarantino Archives.

As reported over the last few weeks, The Weinstein Company was seeking a co-financier for Inglorious Bastards. According to Variety, a deal has been made now with Universal Pictures (Paramount was reportedly also final talks). Bear in mind that co-financing the film does not mean Universal is now the production company. The film is and has always been a Weinstein production. It is not uncommon for studios to cooperate, especially regarding international distribution. The ...

The post Universal to co-finance Quentin’s Nazi-hunters appeared first on The Quentin Tarantino Archives.

Rumor control! This week started with a rumor from Scriptgirl that Miramax had bought the rights to Quentin Tarantino‘s much hyped Inglorious Bastards script. Jeffrey Wells at Hollywood Elsewhere sais that’s bullshit, and … it is. Miramax wasn’t even mentioned when news came out that The Weinstein Company was “shopping” the script to the big four studios, just on a sidenote. The movie will be coming out of the cozy lap of The Weinstein ...

The post Miramax did not buy Inglorious Bastards after all appeared first on The Quentin Tarantino Archives.
