Django Unchained BluRay and DVD are out now, dear Europeans! A couple of weeks really only after Django Unchained was released to the US home video market (and topped the sales charts there for weeks) it is now also available in other major overseas markets, namely the UK, France and Germany (and a few others, with a few more to join in the next few weeks). Sony is handling international distribution, and so the …

Quentin Tarantino has opened the eyes of many, especially among the younger generation, to a world of cinema that has otherwise not received the public attention it should have. Foreign films, old kung fu movies, European classics, Spaghetti Westerns, Filipino low-budget action movies, classic drive-in flicks of the 60s and 70s, you name it. I personally think it is (among many things) a great achievement that through his movies, he has revived so much …

I’m sitting in Pat & Lorraine’s Coffee Shop on Eagle Rock Boulevard, a few minutes outside Hollywood, having a late breakfast. There is a Reservoir Dogs poster right on the wall by our table. It’s the breakfast diner where the opening breakfast scene for Dogs was filmed, and it is one of its few remaining shooting locations that still exist. I’m discussing last night’s screening of Django Unchained with Michael, a long time veteran …

It all happened rather quickly. First the news that his long-awaited Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair will finally premiere in LA’s New Beverly Cinema this month as part of a Tarantino-programmed exploitation and classic film month. A few days earlier, he accepted the Caesar award in France (Variety, ), implying in his acceptance speech (watch video) that he’s only getting started. By the way, you need to read this blog post on Quentin’s …

For some reason I cut my finger last night, and all I could think of was “Basterds!”, which now seems to be in my vocabulary for situations like that. But let me get to the point, dear readers. Someone in the forums said he will pre-cream his pants over what I’m gonna write about now and the coming days and weeks, so I guess a word of warning is appropriate. Our sister project, …

There are already lively discussions in our forums about what movies influenced Quentin‘s new film and what films might be referred to through direct mentioning, character names or other aspects. One central cinematic influence on Tarantino is the Macaroni Combat genre, which, just like the Spaghetti Western describes western movies made in Italy, means Italian war movies of the 60s,70s and 80s. A particular favorite is Inglorious Bastards itself, but there are many more. …

This goes out to all the spaghetti western lovers out there, Quentin Tarantino himself included, who missed out on one of the greatest set of movie screenings ever conceived by man (in this case Mr Team League). The Rolling Roadshow Leone Edition 2008 brought Sergio Leone‘s so-called Dollar Trilogy to the outskirts of Almeria, Spain where these three movies were shown to an enthusiastic crowd of the greatest people on a huge blow-up screen, …

Quentin Tarantino and Clint Eastwood will host AFI’s Top 10 countdown on CBS, the Hollywood Reporter writes. They will introduce the film in their western segment. A perfect choice as I think, just having returned from Spain watching all three of the “Dollars” movies on location. By the way Quentin, if you read this, you missed out on the greatest experience ever. Pictures and reports of the event in Almeria you can find at …
