Things yesterday got pretty exciting when ET’s preview for tonight’s airing came out, the first moving pictures from Quentin Tarantino‘s upcoming ‘magnum opus’ (that’s latin, google it you Basterds) Django Unchained. Entertainment Weekly broke the first official still images from Quentin Tarantino‘s spaghetti-infused slavery revenge epic “southern” Django Unchained. One image shows Leonardo di Caprio as a hammer-wielding Calvin Candie, the other shows bounty hunter Dr. Schultz played by Christoph Waltz, as well as the titular Django, played by Jamie Foxx, a blend “between Shaft and Clint Eastwood”, as he describes. The big news of the last few days is, that Kevin Costner – as much as I would have loved to see him in it – is out (due to scheduling conflicts) of Django Unchained, which is currently in pre-production, and Kurt Russell is in talks to replace him. As we’ve reported earlier, rising German star actor Daniel Brühl has been cast in Inglorious Bastards. Now the Berliner Kurier, a local paper, writes that he might in fact have been cast as the main villian Hans Landa – aka ‘The Jew Hunter’ – the vicious SS Officer, a role for which Daniel beat Leonardo diCaprio, Gedeon Burkhard and Til Schweiger.
