Gotta hand it to the French, they sure don’t beat around the bush (all sorts of puns intended). Allocine.fr claims that a teaser trailer for Inglourious Basterds, which has not even wrapped yet, will hit next Thursday the 12th. If true, I predict all sorts of craziness. Stay tuned, you Basterds! On a sidenote, I remember when the Kill Bill teaser hit and I watched it over and over again. It kicked so much …

Inglourious Basterds, the movie that to my knowledge has yet to wrap (I’m guessing next week or so), is set for a US release date of August 21 as has been announced weeks ago. I’m just now finding out that it will in fact come out 2 days earlier in France, on August 19 (according to Universal Pictures). Not to mention that it might premiere this May at the Cannes Film Festival. We’ll keep …

When I posted the report from the set of Inglourious Basterds (click here to read it if you haven’t checked it out yet), I included some candid pictures of the set that were sent to me, and one of them showed a marquee poster of “Stolz der Nation“, which is gracing the outside of the notorious cinemateque. I promised to make that our next exclusive picture, so here it is, click the image to …

Speaking to MTV at the Golden Globes, BJ Novak calls Inglourious Basterds the coolest movie he’s ever seen. Check out the interview below. In case you haven’t done so yet, check out our exclusive set report also, probably the coolest thing WE’ve ever done :)

Have I announced this and am I a few days late? Probably. Can I still not believe I did this? Very much so. Was I really blown away and could’ve taken more notes? Correct. At any rate, this might well constitute one of the coolest things this website has ever had to offer, followed by our first 2007 interview with Tarantino maybe. Two weeks ago, I went to Berlin and spent a day on …

As promised, to make up for yesterday’s unavailability of our website, here’s the next exclusive picture from Quentin Tarantino’s highly anticipated next film Inglourious Basterds. As you may know, the movie reverts in part around the premiere of a Nazi propaganda film called Stolz der Nation (Pride of the Nation), which stars Fredrick Zoller, a German sniper, played by Daniel Brühl. This movie within the movie was of directed by Eli Roth, who pulled …

Here’s some random Basterds stuff to fill a boring post-lunch lull. As you know, I love chit-chatting about random gossip and news items that come through the news services of that quasi-monopolistic search engine company I don’t want to mention right now. Here’s a quote that caught my eye that I thought was very well-written and somehow fitting and funny even though I’m not sure if it’s entirely positive or a bit sceptical. It …

If you’ve followed our recent coverage, you might already be anxiously waiting for this. As Inglourious Basterds nears its wrapping date (and a huge party, I suspect), we’re proud to present a few EXCLUSIVE pictures from the film.
One of the central characters in the movie is Bridget von Hammersmarck. A Tarantinoesque version of Marlene Dietrich, a femme fatale of sorts, a beautiful celebrity and also… a spy. Bridget is played by Diane Kruger, one …

Our dear friends and investigative geniuses at The Playlist sadly bring to our attention that Ennio Morricone, the grand master of composed and conducted music and eternal ‘il maestro’ among musicians, will not contribute to the score for Inglourious Basterds. Please wipe the tears off your eyes, my faithful readers. Life goes on. You may now start your favorite Morricone tune in your mp3 players and take a deep breath. Morricone’s official site actually …

I was already half way out the door when The Weinstein Company put a little New Year’s Eve gift out for us. Their website (they now allow linking to indivual movies, yay) lists August 21, 2009 (mark your calendards, you basterds!) as the official US release date for Inglourious Basterds. Now go and party! (thanks to Joblo and Comingsoon for the heads up)

Has Quentin Tarantino made movies before? How do you actually pronounce Inglourious Basterds? Does the movie take place during World War II? Is it a movie about World War II? Find out below, in the excerpt from the Charlie Rose show:

I hope you had some great holidays, make sure you read our christmas message. It features a really cool picture from the set, and an old fella in a white beard, you know who I’m talking about, are you not?

If you’re a regular visitor of this website (which exists in some form or another since 1999 and there are still some regulars around, or so I hear) you know that I always make a big deal out of special occasions, and I get all chatty and write up little texts like this one here. Well, it’s that time of the year again! If you read this, then let me thank you for stopping …

According to The Boston Globe, Eli Roth‘s little brother Gabriel might have a cameo in Inglourious Basterds. Hey, it’s a monday, why don’t you all make sure you’ve seen the crazy amounts of set pictures we’ve posted earlier this last weekend. By the way, we’re making some long overdue improvements to The Archives – incrementally of course – that will make it easier to surf around there, you can check out some mini sidebar-menus …

I’ll make this one short. There are two links where you will find a whole lot of Inglourious Basterds set pictures from Paris. Nice shots of Quentin and some of the cast, production design etc. Link 1 and Link 2. Enjoy. Here’s a little teaser:

For only two days, Quentin Tarantino will shoot scenes for Inglourious Basterds in Paris, even though most, if i not all, of the movie takes place in France. Seen below is a picture published in Le Figaro, one of France’s biggest newspapers. On a sidenote, some tabloids have mentioned Brad Pitt has already wrapped his scenes for the film, which will probably be shooting until the end of January.

Update: Our friends at Filmgeek.fr have …

Gotta hand it to the Russians. Shortly before they’ll turn off the gas before christmas (just kidding), they are our only main source for official Inglourious Basterds material. Thanks to Chris, I just got word of a third still image that Filmz.ru published. This picture shows Jacky Ido as Marcel, and Melanie Laurent as Shosanna. This is the first picture of the two characters. Enjoy below!

While we’re still drooling over the first two official stills from Inglourious Basterds, let me just fill you in on a few other noteworthy things that one might find in the googleverse. The yellow press is full of Brad Pitt‘s ‘stache, which we are confident will set a new trend and bring that type of facial hair the reputation it deserves. Pitt is also being quoted about Inglourious Basterds, calling it “outrageous, the World …

It was only a matter of time, was it. You thought December started somewhat slow in the Inglourious Basterds news department? I thought so, too. But thanks to filmz.ru (thanks to equilibrium blog for the heads up, kudos to the Cinefacts forums), we can see two pictures from the film in full glory, one showing Brad Pitt as Aldo Raine (check out his character profile) adressing soldiers (we also get to see his infamous …

Monday’s random commentary.
While we would never go as far as calling him “Pitt-ler”, as some unfortunate editorial has done, and which we find inappropriate, we do fully support Brad Pitt‘s crusade of bringing back the moustache. Not only are they underappreciated and undeservingly shunned by the mainstream, they are just plainly badass (Magnum, Wyatt Earp, etc). Aldo Raine will go down as a movie character that re-started the moustache as fashionable, and I wholly …

It’s some sort of a slow week again, in terms of Inglourious Basterds (note that we’re no longer calling it Inglorious Bastards anymore) at least, but that’s not too bad. While I’m busy with school and some Spaghetti Western Database pre-christmas work, and also some issues in the Forum, unfortunately, I’m sure our man from Hollywood is busy up in Berlin yelling “aaaaction” into the ears of Brad Pitt and the other Basterds. We …

What would be a good day to bring little children to a Tarantino film set, you might ask yourself (or probably not, since… why would you ask yourself that, but please let’s just assume you have 20 kids or so). To find an answer, investigative journalists of the most investigative sort have asked a very famous mother. Angelina Jolie, wife of Brad Pitt (yes the one who will bring the mustache back into the …
