From what we can gather, rehearsing on Inglorious Basterds started today, after a joint dinner with cast and crew in Berlin yesterday, that was well-received by some paparazzis (we suspect pictures of a drunk Til Schweiger very soon, probably). Reportedly, shooting will begin in the German state of Saxony on October 6th already, in an area called the Elbsandstein mountains (rumor) and production will then move to Babelsberg Studios in Potsdam near Berlin on …

A number of French actors have joined Quentin Tarantino‘s currently prepping WW2 epic Inglorious Basterds, but he’s not stopping there. While one of two casting events for extras was attended by hundreds of interested applicants, Tarantino adds some more local starpower to his film. As Bild, Germany’s best-selling tabloid (obviously not the most trustworthy source) reports, veteran German actor Sylvester Groth, who has already played a Nazi in a recent satire on Adolf Hitler …

There is a character in Inglorious Basterds called Marcel, the projectionist in Shosanna‘s movie theater, one of the major locations of the film. We can now confirm that a French actor that goes with the cool-sounding name (imagine Mr Pink saying this) Jacky Ido has been cast for this role, which I will now tentatively describe as Melanie Laurent‘s character’s side-kick. We’ve also managed to get most of the already known cast confirmed, just …

French actresses Léa Seydoux and Anne-Sophie Franck are joining Tarantino’s casting roster for Inglorious Basterds (or Inglourious Basterds?). Both were reportedly signed up for the project. Quentin Tarantino, who headed to France to oversee the casting, must have been impressed by the two’s current portfolio. Seydoux is starring in La Belle Personne, a french film in theaters at the moment, Franck stars in No Secrets Between us, a French TV series, and starred in …

Many of you have emailed me regarding extras casting dates in Berlin for Inglorious Bastards. As TheLocal reports, there are now dates and details for casting. A Berlin casting agency, FilmGesichter, is looking for applicants that fit a certain visual appearance true to the stereotype 1940s appearance and fashion. There are two days of casting, on September 20 and on the 27th, at Babelsberg Film Studios (Potsdam/Berlin). More information here in English (und hier …

Word around the campfire for some time has been that Quentin Tarantino wanted somebody less famous and “fresh” for the role of Shosanna, the female lead in Inglorious Bastards. The character description calls for a French girl approximately 20 years old or even younger, feisty enough to talk face to face with Nazi head honchos and smart enough to royally outsmart them. Is French actress and Cesar Award winner Melanie Laurent the one? According …

According to an agency release, Robert Richardson, who has worked as director of photography (or cinematographer) with such directors as Oliver Stone and Martin Scorsese, and who has already collaborated with Quentin Tarantino on Kill Bill, will also be the DP for Inglorious Bastards. This puts and end to weeks of speculation in our forum as to whether Quentin might handle the job himself, as he did on Death Proof, or return to working …

He’s in, he’s out, he’s in? THR reports (albeit with a story headline that makes zero sense) that Til Schweiger has been cast as one of the Inglorious Bastards (apparently they have Germans in their ranks, what will The Bear Jew think?). The word around the campfire during the last few weeks was that he might play Col. Landa, or the character Daniel Brühl finally got, or someone different, and that in the end …

Just as we reported that Diane Kruger is in negotiations to co-star in Inglorious Bastards, Variety now reports she’s been cast (!?), and they also report that Christoph Waltz, a well-known German television actor is set to play Col. Hans Landa, for which we so far have assumed Daniel Brühl was considered. Maybe he will play the character known as Zoller (also a German soldier). Variety also mentions Paul Rust to be part of …

[Update: A full and more accurate quote of Ms Kruger sais "I just received a call from Quentin Tarantino, asking me to be in his next movie." She is currently in negotiations, but has not signed up for the movie. We apologize for our premature reporting. Maybe her looks stunned me too much.]
One of the central characters in Inglorious Bastards will be a German movie star called Bridget von Hammersmark in the script. People …

As we’ve reported earlier, rising German star actor Daniel Brühl has been cast in Inglorious Bastards. Now the Berliner Kurier, a local paper, writes that he might in fact have been cast as the main villian Hans Landa – aka ‘The Jew Hunter’ – the vicious SS Officer, a role for which Daniel beat Leonardo diCaprio, Gedeon Burkhard and Til Schweiger. The paper quotes Brühl saying (rough translation) “I’m scared stiff”, he has about …

Goodbye Lenin star Daniel Brühl was quoted in the German tabloid magazine Bunte (rough translation), that he was tremendously happy about the role and that he would have been very disappointed if he hadn’t gotten the role. He did not reveal which character in Inglorious Bastards he would take on, but there are a few roles that would fit. We’ll keep you posted.

Today, the internets have washed ashore something that I would very cautiously describe as a potentially real but early draft test print-out (can I say this anymore cautiously?) of an Inglorious Bastards teaser poster. I’ve attached a small version of this to the right. You all know how cautious I usually am with rumors and other things, there were a few factors that let me determine that this was in fact worth posting considering …

According to AICN, B.J. – and I still think that is a susceptible-to-cheap-jokes first name – Novak has signed the contract for co-starring as one of the Inglorious Bastards. We’ll keep you posted about further casting talk (as always we’ll try to separate fact from rumor) as we count down the remaining 7 weeks till principle shooting starts on Quentin’s in-your-face war movie.

Variety reports today that German actor Michael Fassbender, known to many for his “then we’ll fight in the shade” role in 300 (the adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel with the uber-sexy Spartan queen…), is “in final negotiations” to play the role in Inglorious Bastards that Simon Pegg had to say no to (due to scheduling problems with this geek road movie film), Lt. Archie Hicox.
According to the Wikipedia, Fassbender has produced, directed and …

The film isn’t even in the can, it hasn’t even been cast yet, and already there’s a gazillion of websites quoting one (!!) German film critic, or one (!!) article in a respectable German newspaper about how Inglorious Bastards might (!) hurt some feelings among the German public over the film’s likely depiction – and elimination – of Nazis by the hands of Brad Pitt‘s all-Jewish commando unit. The latest bit is in Vulture, …

Sad news for Peggster fans, and Quentin needs to find a replacement…. We’ll keep you posted. The Spaced (of which we will bring you a DVD review shortly!) star was supposed to play British Lt. Archie Hicox, a role that Quentin reportedly wrote for Tim Roth, who also has prior …

I’m not gonna say too much about this, just watch and enjoy. It’s some TV/online show with a real geek who talks too much and a really gorgeous anchor, and they talk about Enzo Castellari‘s original Inglorious Bastards as well as Russ Meyer‘s Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill (although they still talk about that B.S. rumor), and at the end the geek gets to throw a bunch of trash DVDs into the room. Fun. Check …

Breaking news out of Tarantino land, ladies and gentlemen. Some of you sceptics out there will fume at this news, but I’m getting confirmation that Mike Myers will have a SMALL role in Inglorious Bastards. Myers is the star of Wayne’s World and Austin Powers, and also the recent flop Love Guru. No word yet on what role he might be taking over (maybe Adolf H. himself?), yet the movie seems to have an …

Adam Sandler, long rumored to being considered by Quentin Tarantino for a role in his upcoming Inglorious Bastards, which is currently in pre-production in Germany, has confirmed to RTE.ie that he was in fact approached by Quentin, has read the script, but had to decline the offer due to conflicting schedules. He is quoted saying “Yeah it’s true. It is, and I read the script, it’s fantastic. But I’m shooting at the very same …

You’re the caretaker of an old tower (click to see a picture) in a lovely city in the east of Germany, and a few people from Babelsberg Film Studios books a quick tour of these old structures. They show up and there are a few Americans with them. No wonder your colleagues will later poke fun at you for not recognizing Quentin Tarantino as “that man from America” who was in the city of …

Who thought there was going to be some time to catch a breath after we could confirm Brad Pitt for Inglorious Bastards last night? I did and I was wrong! We just got this confirmed, and get ready to be excited! Brad Pitt will play Lt. Aldo Raine in Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglorious Bastards. He’s been in talks for a while now and I’m happy to report that he’s in! Raine is a real Tennesseean badass leading a platoon of all-jewish, nazi-scalping specialists behind enemy lines in France. Joining him (confirmed so far) are Eli Roth as Sgt Donowitz and B.J. Nowak as Private Utivich. …
