When it comes to TV series, our friends in Britain run a very bizarre business. Most British TV series do not run for a very long time, in the case of Spaced only two seasons, and there’s a flurry of funny little shows every other year, leading as a whole to lots of diversity and fun, but also to danger of things falling under the radar. Spaced did not fall under the radar, it …

Just a short heads up for you home video lovers out there. Sad news first: the announced German DVD of Grindhouse has been postponed until 2009, indicating a possible simultaneous worldwide release instead. Hardcore fans will thus have to stick with the overpriced Japanese box with the inferior transfer. I also got the Swedish Hell Ride DVD in the mail today. More sad news for all you importers: there are no extras on that …

One week until the BluRay releases of both Kill Bill volumes hit American shelves (I guess you can no longer call them DVD shelves, but then again, I’m one of those unlucky individuals unable to afford even an old-fashioned TV these days, not to mention anything HD, but nevermind), and I’m reading a pre-release review of the two discs by a blogger who’s everything else but not a fan of these two movies, nevertheless, …

The previously released American 15th anniversary DVD of Reservoir Dogs will get a second life in the UK this October. Lionsgate will release a Limited 2 Disc Collector’s Edition on DVD and BluRay on October 20th. It looks identical to the previously released one and is also packaged like a gasoline can and pack of matches. You can click here to check out the Bluray and here to check out the DVD at the …

As we reported earlier, the upcoming German DVD release of Grindhouse will be in a 1.85:1 format, which means Death Proof (which was shot in open-matte Super35mm or something, I guess) will be slightly more ‘open’ than its theatrical exhibition of 2.35:1 cinemascope format. The producers of the German DVD have confirmed that this is the official PAL master from The Weinstein Company, and they have also let it be known that the Japanese …

That groovy 6-Disc edition of Grindhouse in Japan still bears a somewhat hefty price, so all you importers might want to consider taking a look at the upcoming German 2-Disc Limited Collector’s Edition that will hit German DVD stores September 22. We bring you the final cover artwork for this edition that’s most likely going to be a gas-can style packaged deal selling for around 30 Euros. In addition to German Dolby and DTS …

Usually, you’d see the soundtrack CD of a new movie in stores weeks before the movie comes out. That is – unfortunately – not the case with Hell Ride. A deal with Decca Records seems not to have translated into available Amazon pre-orders of any sort yet. But there’s hope. The film is already listed on DVD, and it is now hitting Europe (going directly to DVD in Sweden on August 27 already, followed …

I’m not gonna say too much about this, just watch and enjoy. It’s some TV/online show with a real geek who talks too much and a really gorgeous anchor, and they talk about Enzo Castellari‘s original Inglorious Bastards as well as Russ Meyer‘s Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill (although they still talk about that B.S. rumor), and at the end the geek gets to throw a bunch of trash DVDs into the room. Fun. Check …

We all know perfectly well how it starts. There’s usually someone being hauled into the ER, bleeding like a stuck pig, and somebody running round in shock telling the doctors what happened, while a bunch of guys in green srubs yell medical terms at nameless extras. At the same time, you have some pediatrician trying to patch up his life and some kid simultaneously, while some intrigue among the hospital’s leadership is cooking up …

We’ve known it for quite some team, but now comes the official press release as reported by DVDActive. Miramax will increase both Volumes of Kill Bill separately, as well as a set with both discs, on September 9. The films will come in full 1080P glory for those lucky bastards out there with Hi-Def equipment. The discs will cary the same extras as the previously released DVD versions, and they will be the American …

Hailed as the Canadian version of Spinal Tap, Hard Core Logo won numerous Canadian awards. If you’re living around the Toronto area there’s a chance to see the film and the director, Bruce McDonald, at a screening (more info here). Hard Core Logo was picked up by Quentin Tarantino as part of his unfortunately short-lived Rolling Thunder Pictures home video series. Of course if you’re not located in Toronto, picking up the Rolling Thunder …

The numbers are in on Hell Ride, which opened limited in the US this friday. Boxofficemojo lists it for only 82 theaters with an average intake on the film of about a thousand US dollars, totalling to an estimated $83,500 on the film’s first weekend. Considering the film’s only $4 million budget, and (I am only guessing wildly here) considering it might only make yet another 100 thousand or so over the course of …

For those of you who already own the Japanese DVD, don’t get excited, but for most American audiences, MTV has unearthed an new US trailer for Sukiyaki Western: Django, the crazed-out Takashi Miike homage to Corbucci‘s original Django, with a cameo by Quentin Tarantino. The trailer itself I think doesn’t do justice to the film, although I haven’t seen it. Here is another trailer that looks a lot better. For those new to this …

One of those high-profile Elmore Leonard adaptations, executive-produced by Quentin Tarantino and with a star cast, somehow got buried in Hollywood’s god-knows-why release schedule. Will Kill Shot end up recut and butchered on DVD? We don’t know. Fact is there’s people out there that want to see it….. Here’s the trailer in case you don’t remember….

After The Dirty Dozen was released in 1967, it was a big smash in Europe and it soon spawned a whole bunch of remakes by Italian directors. In the late 70s, Italian master director Enzo G. Castellari did his own spin on the “men on a mission” film with Quel Maledetto Treno Blindatto aka The Inglorious Bastards. Being an incredible stylist of cinema, Il Maestro Castellari brought a wild, raucous vision of war to …

Hell Ride doesn’t come out (in limited release) before August 8, but Amazon already has a picture of the DVD cover artwork up. The film will be released October 28 (according to the retailer’s website) as part of the Dimension Extreme series. In our exclusive interview with director Larry Bishop he said “I’m working on all the extras for the DVD right now. It’s gonna be fucking fantastic.” The movie is about a …

While shooting Reservoir Dogs back in ’92, Quentin Tarantino took a few hours to play a mental institution orderly in Jeff Burr’s film Eddie Presley, based on a stage play by Duane Whitaker, who would later play Maynard in Pulp Fiction, and who wrote the sequel to From Dusk Till Dawn. The cameo was alongside Bruce Campbell, and Q’s character Hospital Orderly is a well-known name with Tarantino fans all around the world who’ve …

Before you say “Hey are you insane, that movie hasn’t even started shooting!”, I’m talking about Castellari’s Inglorious Bastards here, Que Maledetto Treno Blindato, to be exact. The film is considered to be a Macaroni Combat cult classic, it is a very entertaining war movie (read my review here) with a great cast, and the fact that Quentin Tarantino wants to call his hommage to the genre Inglorious Bastards as well (some chose to …

Did you just get a heart attack as you read that headline? I hope not. Because aside from Japan, where the film is already available as a 6 DVD box, the movie has only just been announced in Germany. No details are yet confirmed aside from the fact that it is probably Grindhouse only, without the two movies extra as in Japan, also no word yet on bonus features or language tracks, so far …

If you haven’t heard of the world’s only available version of Grindhouse on DVD, then it’s about time. For about 100 dollars or 60 Euros, it’s yours. Japan is once again first in getting one crazy-ass DVD collector’s item. This baby below is a limited 6 DVD box, housing the theatrical cut of Grindhouse with fake trailers (!), an additional disc with extras, plus Planet Terror with extra DVD and Death Proof with extra …

What’s better than a bunch of great flicks under the christmas tree? Your younger siblings are in bed, you had a christmas dinner, and then you pop a great DVD into the player and enjoy a cold one with it. The wait is over. Pre-order listings at various DVD stores and word of mouth seem to indicate, that SEPTEMBER 18th is in fact the date Kill Bill is finally arriving on DVD, but with a vengeance. After years of having to be satisfied with the flimsy bare bones editions (which I personally finally bought because I got sick of TNT showing the film so censored, those fuckers!), what seems to be released will be, …
