When I posted the report from the set of Inglourious Basterds (click here to read it if you haven’t checked it out yet), I included some candid pictures of the set that were sent to me, and one of them showed a marquee poster of “Stolz der Nation“, which is gracing the outside of the notorious cinemateque. I promised to make that our next exclusive picture, so here it is, click the image to …

Have I announced this and am I a few days late? Probably. Can I still not believe I did this? Very much so. Was I really blown away and could’ve taken more notes? Correct. At any rate, this might well constitute one of the coolest things this website has ever had to offer, followed by our first 2007 interview with Tarantino maybe. Two weeks ago, I went to Berlin and spent a day on …

As promised, to make up for yesterday’s unavailability of our website, here’s the next exclusive picture from Quentin Tarantino’s highly anticipated next film Inglourious Basterds. As you may know, the movie reverts in part around the premiere of a Nazi propaganda film called Stolz der Nation (Pride of the Nation), which stars Fredrick Zoller, a German sniper, played by Daniel Brühl. This movie within the movie was of directed by Eli Roth, who pulled …

Those of you following our coverage of the production process of Inglourious Basterds may have noticed that the man himself was strangely absent from most of the pictures and YouTube videos that leaked from the set in Goerlitz, where scenes for the “film within the film” were filmed. I am surprised how little attention this has drawn upon itself, but then again a few candid videoclips don’t necessarily mean anything. Could it be a …

Adding to the last news entry, HERE are a few more pictures of Daniel Bruehl and some of the action scenes for Inglourious Basterds that were just filmed in Goerlitz, Germany. What’s even better though, is a video clip showing American soldiers during an attack (that goes wrong I think). The scene being filmed here is part of the movie within the movie, with Daniel’s character Fredrick Zoller being up in the buildings somewhere …

He’s in, he’s out, he’s in? THR reports (albeit with a story headline that makes zero sense) that Til Schweiger has been cast as one of the Inglorious Bastards (apparently they have Germans in their ranks, what will The Bear Jew think?). The word around the campfire during the last few weeks was that he might play Col. Landa, or the character Daniel Brühl finally got, or someone different, and that in the end …

Just as we reported that Diane Kruger is in negotiations to co-star in Inglorious Bastards, Variety now reports she’s been cast (!?), and they also report that Christoph Waltz, a well-known German television actor is set to play Col. Hans Landa, for which we so far have assumed Daniel Brühl was considered. Maybe he will play the character known as Zoller (also a German soldier). Variety also mentions Paul Rust to be part of …

As we’ve reported earlier, rising German star actor Daniel Brühl has been cast in Inglorious Bastards. Now the Berliner Kurier, a local paper, writes that he might in fact have been cast as the main villian Hans Landa – aka ‘The Jew Hunter’ – the vicious SS Officer, a role for which Daniel beat Leonardo diCaprio, Gedeon Burkhard and Til Schweiger. The paper quotes Brühl saying (rough translation) “I’m scared stiff”, he has about …

Goodbye Lenin star Daniel Brühl was quoted in the German tabloid magazine Bunte (rough translation), that he was tremendously happy about the role and that he would have been very disappointed if he hadn’t gotten the role. He did not reveal which character in Inglorious Bastards he would take on, but there are a few roles that would fit. We’ll keep you posted.

You’re shooting a film with lots of Germans in them, so while you’re in Berlin, why not talk to some German actors for these roles? That’s what Quentin did. As reported by the Berlin Morgenpost, a local newspaper, he met – ironically in hotel “Q!” – with Til Schweiger (American audiences know him from Driven and The Replacement Killers) and Daniel Brühl, known for his role in Goodbye Lenin, to talk about Inglorious Bastards. …
