got to meet QT (finally!!) at the Drafthouse event downtown Austin tonight.. he was pretty laid back, very chill and very friendly. i asked him when they'd be shooting Death Proof until in Austin and he said they'll be shooting until November in places from the lot in Austin to Bastrop, TX to more all around Austin. i asked which would be better (DP or PT) and he said that'd be in the eye of the beholder, lol. i also showed him the picture I have of stuntman mike's car that i have as my wallpaper on my phone. guess that is it in GH news.. didn't see any other cast members there or anything. oh, one more thing, is that (i think this is old news) but he did say that 1 trailer would be done by eli and another would be done by George A. Romero (i think? sounded like the dawn of the dead director but i think i've read this somewhere).

not that you heard from me, but tonight(as in right now) and tomorrow they are filming at the omelettry on burnet rd. and 49th. they had giant balloon lights and rain machines. QT was nowhere to be seen when i was there. they said the texas chili parlor didnt have a porch so they had to build one here for some reason. earlier today 3 idential early 70s novas pulled up one after the other. pretty fucking cool. vanessa ferlito is super nice and came out and said hi and held a baby.

I just came back from the set - not much to report or see. Altho I did pick up this bit of news - apparently they are building a whole set for the drive-in movie scene just down Burnet where some warehouses were.. by the old putt-putt. I hope I hear more so I can check that out.. sounds fun. My pictures look basically like bib4tuna's so no point in posting. Although they did have 2 awesome Jungle Julia with the actual actress (Sydney T. Portier, sp?) on them. I'll post that in a minute. The control crowd girl was pretty rude when I tried to ask her a question.. I mean her job IS so hard.. standing around all night, making sure people don't get in a scene. Must be so hard.
At one point, I saw QT, Kurt R. and an actress come out and they were talking. it was inbetween filming and rehearsing. They didn't come near the crowd but everyone could see them. Oh and I did see Stuntman Mike's car! (2 of them) those were awesome.

 This is a "Jungle Julia" radio show poster.. one of the 2 they had on the set tonight. It's Sydney Tamiia Poitier in a "Kill Bill" replica poster.. the suit, the font, etc. pretty cool! sorry its blurry.. the cops and camera control lady weren't allowing pictures even if they didn't have a flash. |

Thanks mimbo. Are the billboards covered up when shooting is done for the day? My point is, can photos be taken during the day when you can get a good clear picture with no interuptions? (hint, hint) |

(hint, hint) the billboards are in plain sight all the time. 1 of them was fabricated for the set, the other one is just a regular old billboard that they mustve rented. hell there are even 2 or 3 of them right in the middle of downtown on south congress too. |

Well, last night this one couple mentioned to me that the set was completely opened that morning and people could have just walked through. So after class, I went back and sure enough, the set was still there. It wasn't much to see but still awesome compared to what I saw last night. And I got 2 clear shots of the Jungle Julia posters.   This is the back of the Texas Chili Parlor - a fake porch they built because the actual TCP didn't have a back porch. They equipped it with fake signs and such. It looks pretty cool. There were also so many beer bottles, shot classes, etc. I guess it makes sense since it's suppose to be the back of a bar.  A look through the door that is suppose to go to the TCP - it actually goes to the back of Omlettry.  Fake brick on the right side of the back porch.. made of plastic, I believe.  The set.. this is pretty much it. Didn't get to see where they were sitting and such.. but this was all built like 2 nights ago.   More TCP signs..  Ahh, this sign is my favorite. Man, STP is way hotter than when she was on Veronica Mars And finally  Last night the "B" wasn't there.. so it was Eat Sum Good Ass Chili! lol I talked to a guy who said that he wasn't sure if filming was supposed to be done. Just like the other poster reported, he said it was 2 night shoot. But it didn't look like they were taking anything gone. The truck that was used for reviewing the shots was gone, as was the catering one. Everything else was there.. and there were only like 2 crew guys, 1 security and 2 cops. A bunch of people were just walking through. Stuntman Mike's cars were gone too (sad).. Oh and the guy I talked to today also mentioned the fake drive-in down on Burtner that would be built. Looks like that'll be next. |

They were doing some filming again tonight, 3rd night in a row at 49th and Burnet. It seemed as if this would be their last night at this location. I took my friend to check it out because she wanted to see. And they were doing some awesome shooting with Stuntman Mike's car.. although I don't remember seeing Kurt R. The car high-tailed it out of the Omlettry's parking lot, skidded/hydroplaned on the wet road, did a complete 360 and drove off down Burnet. They did it a few times and then had Sydney T. and the other actresses (I can't tell them apart, honestly.. one in blonde, thats for sure) and they took off down the road like the other car. That was about all we saw in 3hrs (few!) but it was much more than last night. The set was pretty much infront of the Omlettry so you can could see everything.  I didn't have my camera (stupid me, forgot it!) but I got a blurry shot on my phone. Here is it zoomed in (click pic):  I also overheard that they'd be filming INSIDE of the Omelettry next month! |

AWESOME!! Thanks for posting the photos mimbo! I love the Jungle Julia billboards!! The Kill Bill spoof one is kickass! I love how QT uses ideas from his past movies and brings them into new films. One thing Ive been trying to figure out is which universe Death Proof takes place in. Since QT is using an advertisement for Snakes On A Plane and the Kill Bill spoof billboard, wouldnt that mean its taking place in our actual Real World, not the Realer Than Real World (Dogs, Pulp) or the Movie Movie Universe (FDTD, Kill Bill)? l |

Well I read on an Austin news blog that QT was shooting in front of a local movie theater that was showing some older films and he had the marquee changed to read: Sam Jackson in: Snakes On A Plane.
