It’s 2011! And I’m back with a juicy exclusive for all you QT Fans out there! Bear with me! All movie geeks love lists, that’s a fact of life. Our new off-shoot Furious Cinema has got a few lists to get your dick hard, and especially around year end the net is full of lists. But not all lists are the same. For example, Quentin Tarantino’s list of favorite Spaghetti Westerns (click here) and Grindhouse Movies (click here) are not mere lists, they are cinematic new year’s eve dinner menus among movie lists. And since it’s a new year, and The Quentin Tarantino Archives is turning 10 years, here’s another list from the man, which we are happy to reproduce for your reading pleasure. Feel free to use the comments below to post your feedback, or head over to our Facebook Page for that….. and here are Quentin Tarantino’s Favorite Movies of 2010:

1. Toy Story 3, 2. The Social Network, 3. Animal Kingdom, 4. I Am Love, 5. Tangled , 6. True Grit, 7. The Town, 8. Greenberg, 9. Cyrus, 10. Enter The Void (“Hands down best credit scene of the year … Maybe best credit scene of the decade. One of the greatest in cinema history.” – QT), 11. Kick Ass.

And the runners up are 12. Knight and Day, 13. Get Him To The Greek, 14. The Fighter, 15. The Kings Speech, 16. The Kids Are All Right, 17. How To Train Your Dragon, 18. Robin Hood, 19. Amer, 20. Jackass 3-D

Personally, I was unable to see many movies 2010 (older ones yes, but not at the theater movies). My new year’s resolution is thus to see at least twice as many 2011 movies in 2011 than I did 2010 movies in 2010. But what a list, I am a bit surprised that Toy Story 3 beat the Coen Brother, but I haven’t seen either of the two. Looking forward to reading your comments, and special thanks to El Quentin for forwarding his list! Happy New Year everyone!

no inception? I will assume you were not able to see it

  • Dave

yea because when i watched inception i was just laughing and smiling the whole through just like a comedy! im being sarcastic i was just using that film as an example. you saying inception isnt a serious film its just eye candy haha what does that even mean? i dident see any clowns in it or punch lines so there for it is a serious film. if u wanna call it “just eye candy” because it has amazing special effects whatever man u just make yourself look like a fool

Of all the top ten lists that people have put on the comments here, yours is the best (I think). I disagree with Scott Pilgrim, but otherwise, great! So wonderful to see someone who recognized Rabbit Hole for as good as it was!

f you demonstrate a little patience at the start of the movie you will be reward with a tremendously subtle and moving cinema experience centered around a young daughter’s love for her adoring father, who is, unfortunately, far from perfect. No, there are no car explosions, or buildings blown up. Just people interacting. Elle Fanning, the eleven year old girl, energizes the film with her amazing perforrnance. Sofia Coppola made every scene, every detail perfect. People have really vented on her. So unfairly! This film will loom large in time and in the memories of those who paid close attention.

Yeah, I liked Black Swan the most, and Machete was awesome as well hahah, had a good laugh! Inception was great, Shutter Island as well (although, they are verry similar movies!!). I wasn’t so much into commedies, so haven’t watched much…
Scott Pilgrim was a fun surprise, gotta admit :)
…Loved the soundtracks in Social Network and Resident Evil Afterlife, made those movies watchable ;).

I think the past year was kind of spotty and Quentin stated here he didn’t see a lot of movies first run. I hated Inception maybe he did, too? But I think that Machete. Shutter Island, The Town and Salt were great and deserved to be on the list.Toy Story 3 as the greatest film of the year isnt for me bst choice.

  • Bacterie

I am surprised he hasn’t put inception in there. His movies are BAD donkey entertainment and nothing more so they should be regarded as such. Instead he’s praised as some really good director which he is not. This list show that he’s got no taste either.

    Why NOT:INCEPTION!
    Where is INCEPION!
In my Opinion its the Greatest film of all time… Depending on ur choice!

If u dont put INCEPTION in your Top5 or atleast TOP10; then U should be in a Mental Assylum!

My Dad built two motorcycles used in the movie Redneck Miller released in 1977. One of the writers, W. Henry Smith, was a good friend of our family and died before we had a chance to get a copy of the movie. It would mean a lot to my Dad, who is now 81 years old, to have a copy, not so much for the movie but more for the motorcycles he created with his own two hands thirty years ago, way before it was mainstream. He’s also in a cameo in the movie on the second bike he built. In the movie he pulls up to a stop sign, then Redneck Miller pulls up beside him, my dad smirks at Miller and then pulls away.

I’ve been looking for a copy of this movie for the last ten years with out any luck other than information as found on the IMG site and other similar websites. I saw where it was actually shown at the Los Angeles Grindhouse Festival in 2007 as part of Quintin Tarrentinos private collection. Can anyone put me in contact with Quintin

Please make The Vega Brothers Quentin! Please team up w/Roger Avary again too. You two are better together than apart. Pulp Fiction is still the best dialogue I’ve heard in any film……. and I watch alot

  • common sense

‘Just eye candy’ means I did not find anything intellectually interesting or emotionally compelling in the film.

  • Bobby Castro

    1. ENTER THE VOID
    …nothing tops it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000152288765 Tyler Dunaway

yeah i was very surprised quentin of all didnt include machete

Well. just as a note fore Shutter Island, Green Zone and Inception:

    Inception
It is a niceley rendered remake of the Matrix triology elements with some technique of the Lost concept (esp. the later seasons; having flash forwards and backwards). But in my opinion it was too vague, too much eye candy. They put too much ideas into the movie and the end sucks of course (like the later matrix movies).

    Green Zone
Well, take Emmerichs apporeach with special effects, add some racism spice, there you are. It lacks a clear direction. Some nice jokes but nothing within that makes me think “I need to watch it again, it was great”.

    Shutter Island
I like Leonardo Di Caprio. The Beach is still probably wihtin my all time TOP20, I also like his performance in The departed and Catch me if you can! He played well in Inception, lets not forget he is the actor, you cant blame him for a lack of logic or concept or similar in any of his movies.
Shutter Island is like so many horror/thriller movies. A dark setup, mental freaks but it is not special and unique imho.

    just my 2 cents…

  • Shekara

I’m glad !!!! No one should see Toy Story Three.

  • Jr333

everyone commenting realizes that these are his favorite movies of the year and not his pick of the best right. i don’t understand why people are complaining about which films are and are not on the list when it is simply the ones he enjoyed the most. and even if it were his pick for the best of the year why does it matter, it is just his opinion.

    Scott pilgrim=gay ass shit

  • Miguelfarinha1

first of all you need to have a lot of respect to Tarantino because he is the best filmmaker right now and he has watched more movies than any of us, so don’t you dare calling a movie that he liked trash.
second I particularly agree 100 per cent with his choice of putting toy story in the first place of his list because the movie has a great story, it is very creative, is technically perfect, and is good enough to attract not just the kids. What I am trying to say is that you a really wrong-toy story 3 was a great movie, so was true grit, and btw the expandables was so bad that I could not even finish watching it.
To be honest you commit a bit mistake in criticizing tarantino’s taste in one of his fan sites, so shut up punk!
You just got owned by a 16 year old boy!

  • Bradpett

Enter The Void is made by a French director and produced by a German company i.e. it’s a European film you idiot, and yea from what you’ve commented on it you definitely shouldn’t have watched it cos you completely missed the point of this amazing ‘never done before’ film ! you should stick to stuff like social network , made for people like you. Cos you ask for a European feature see one and don’t even realise it’s a European independant film so just shut up man !

  • Michael

“It’s also very silly to say that the director/writer of Pulp Fiction, Natural born Killers and Reservoir Dogs is unoriginal…”

Funny, because I thought he got a lot of his themes and characteristics for these films from the French New Wave and crime flicks… I guess I was wrong.

Tarantino isn’t original, but that’s what makes him fun! He nicked a lot, and I mean a lot, of stuff from Jean-Luc Godard, but it’s alright because he’s open about it, which is the reason I respect him.

No theme or idea is truly original anymore. Joseph Campbell’s book “Hero With a Thousand Faces” proves it. If you have one, by all means write it and make it, but until then get off your high horse and just watch and enjoy, man.

  • Michael

What I find funny is how you all think you know him. “How could he put THAT on his list instead of THIS” or “THAT’s not his type of movie!” and so on and so forth. When it comes down to the meat and bones, none of you probably know him. You form an opinion based on the films he makes and his interview persona combined heavily with your own personal bias.

“Toy Story was crap, how could it be number one?!” Film is subjective. Obviously, he didn’t think if was crap. These lists are very much like the Oscars. People forget the during the Oscars no one is saying “Yes, this is the BEST FILM OF THE YEAR SAYS ME”. It’s a group of hundreds, if not thousands voting for their favorite movie. This is the same way. These are his favorite films. We don’t know his criteria in which he judges or rates. He could have had a good time during Jackass 3D. He said that the fight scene in Kill Bill 2 between the Bride and Elle was inspired by Jackass. No one ever said it had to be a pretentious list of “good” films. Hell, most of his favorite films are exploitation films anyhow which choose style over substance a lot. Give the man a break.

This article shows that not only little children can relate to the animated stories Pixar Animation Studios makes. Of course Toy Story 3 is well-deserved to be on the number one position. It’s because TS3 deals with maturity and abandonment — a theme that a least number of the little children can pick up to. TS3 is centered and aimed at the teenagers and the age brackets above it. Good thing that I am not the only one here who favorit-ed Toy Story 3 — I’m with Tarantino. =)

But he forgot something… WHERE IS INCEPTION? It’s a very brilliant film… next to TS3. =) And, and Back Swan too.

This seems to be very late, but..

    1. Toy Story 3
    2. Inception
    3. How To Train Your Dragon
    4. The King’s Speech
    5. The Social Network
    6. Day And Knight

Only top six because the spots 7-10 belongs to Toy Story 3. Again. Sorry but it’s really my favorite. =))

  • http://twitter.com/olivergalleguez Oliver Galleguez

Although animation can be considered as the least form of art, I should say this. Oh, come on! No one can talk about Toy Story 3 like that. Everyone knows it’s a very good movie. Everyone relates to the story, at least to the 17-year-old Andy. You should watch it again.

I hate people who can’t appreciate animated films (mostly CGI) with deep themes and good stories. Those people are immature. They are the real “immature” ones, instead of those who watch great CGI animated films.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly do you call an original film?

  • Mak

Now you don’t have to give your own personal prejudices just because Inception went over your head. 9/10 people will consider you wrong, yes probably it is your choice so I will not give my premature evaluation, though you should keep your premature evaluation to yourself…….

WTF? Its his opinion that Inception was a shitty movie, who the hell are you to tell him to keep that to himself? Does it offend you that someone disagrees with you? Why do you have to fall back on the tired “oh, a lot of people liked it, it must be good” crap?

  • http://www.facebook.com/FOOD1e Johnathon Weiss

He might not have even seen Inception you fargin bastages!

  • http://profiles.google.com/interestingmicrobes Albert Farragut

I have no problem with Toy Story 3 at #1 – I personally like The Social Network and Inception better, but as far as animated movies go, Toy Story 3 is right up there with the best of the bunch. It was even good enough to make the list at http://www.filmcrave.com/list_top_movie.php

  • bleh

I couldn’t agree more. Michael Cera will be playing teenagers that never hit puberty in movies for the rest of his life!

I like old Black n white films mostly but I liked True Romance the best out of QT’s movies. That was my favorite one. Has anyone watched that Black n white film “Seconds” with Rock Hudson, it was creepy in a philosophical way. When QT’ said he likes ANimal Kingdom does he mean Mutual of Omaha’s Animal Kingdom?

  • Chloe

Oh what was wrong with Toy Story? I only like a few of QT’s films basically “True Romance” was my fav, then Res Dogs, then PULP.

  • Jake

After all you’ve done with Robert… No Machete?
