“Dankeschoen!” he said, visibly moved, after several minutes of applause. A Basterd’s work well done, I thought, when the lights went on and Quentin Tarantino had just ended the second world war – on celluloid.
Fast forward two or so hours earlier. The Berlin premiere of Inglourious Basterds, probably the movie’s biggest worldwide (aside from the one in Cannes a few weeks ago) was one hell of an event. Fans had lined up outside the …

Only months after the shooting of Inglourious Basterds wrapped earlier this year in the Potsdam suburbs of Berlin (at the historic Babelsberg Film Studios), the Basterds are back in town. Inglorious they are. Last nights UK premiere at Leicester square in London must have been a blast. Empire magazine has some footage from the red carpet (click here). I’m a big fan of Wired magazine, personally. Not because I’m a tech nerd, but because it’s a smart publication with entertaining and informative articles about aspects of our modern society that are relevant, even though at the time of publication we might not quite believe it yet. And applause to their latest concoction, which they’ve titled “New Rules for Highly Evolved Humans“, a funny little index of advice from such highly evolved people …

“A Basterd’s work is never done” exlaims the new poster for Inglourious Basterds that just premiered internet-wise on Yahoo Movies. It shows Brad Pitt‘s Aldo Raine on a pile of dead Nazi soldiers. Click here to check it out.
UPDATE: For your reading pleasure, Variety has a full-on Q&A with the man himself! Quentin talks a lot about the movie, why its actually a minute longer than the version shown in Cannes and his take …

The Weinstein Company is apparently going to give a couple of thousand (or million?) UFC fans the Basterd treatment. According to reports, they have teamed up with the pay-TV fighting event and will show footage from Inglourious Basterds there, you can read more here.
On a different note, Quentin Tarantino will attend the upcoming Melbourne Film Festival (MIFF). A no-brainer of course, the self-declared fan of Ozploitation cinema can hardly pass on this opportunity. On …

Who’s a Basterd? By way of Empire magazine, the latest issue of which (theyr August 2009 issue, should hit the news stands in the UK this weekend) is a must own for every fan since it will feature a huge Inglourious Basterds section I’m told (interviews, pictures, reviews…), we get a look at the new European (UK/English) character posters of Inglourious Basterds. Those are in the style of the posters we’ve seen hitting the …
