Buckle up, there’s a new kid of terror in town. For all you lovers of lists out there, here’s a list that will make you sweat. The Deuce‘s editors have compiled a top 20 list of best grindhouse flicks 2008/2009. To quote The Deuce’s chief editor, Peter Roberts:

“This final Best Of list was tallied from our forum members’ top picks. These are the cream of the crop. The Grindhouse era exploitation films The Deuce crew think are the bomb!”

On top of the list, Lucio Fulci’s classic Zombi 2, a movie that set a new bar among zombie movies and is not for people equipped with a weak stomach, but a must-see certainly. The list is full of must-sees actually, with films such as Coffy, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and John Flynn’s Rolling Thunder only a few among many. The latter really deserves a decent DVD release and on this note a big “you suck” to responsible people at major labels for letting this classic rot in their archives. Click here to check out the whole list and dive into the wild world of exploitation films. I think lists like this, while not entirely representative, make for a very useful start-off point for genre newcomers and you may find yourself falling in love with a whole new bunch of movies you’ve never even heard of, so check it out. Are you calling yourself a cineast, a cinephile, a moviegeek, a film afficionado? You should have seen all 20 of them. Similarly, you might want to check out The Spaghetti Western Database‘s Top 20 list of must-see westerns “all’Italiana”. Thanks for reading, and please send us your comments and feedback as usual! Don’t hesitate to join our forums and be part of the whole pre-Inglourious Basterds buzz!
