Happy monday everyone. While I still don’t have a personal broadband connection, at least I found the time to plant myself (“I said plant, plants don’t talk”) in the library and sift through the millions of emails that have gathered up over the last few weeks while I was moving to a new city. For those who don’t know I officially started grad school today, but don’t worry, I’ve said it years ago and I say it again, this website won’t die just because I have a “real life” during the day, as well. So… to cut a long story short, here’s a little round up of news items that found their way into my inbox via a news alert from a very powerful IT company I don’t dare mention the name of but they also happen to have advertising to your right.

First of, even though I’m a bit disappointed at Genius Products for always making me beg for their stuff (in a more perfect world I’d already have a DVD review for you), you can at least try your luck and win one of the upcoming DVDs of Hell Ride at this website. There’s a positive review of the movie here.

Then the stories about Inglorious Bastards are still making waves through German and Israeli newspapers, especially regarding the issue of violence and subject matter of the film. Examples here, here and especially here. To repeat myself, I think this is being unnecessarily being made a big deal out of. As for the film itself, it is well under way, shooting has started last Thursday and we will bring you pictures and more coverage of the project very soon! Join the wild world of our forum to take part in the discussions about the film.

And last but not least, a whole bunch of shit for ya …..   Here’s a nice article about violence in society today, in case you like some intellectual stuff to wrap your head around. Paste magazine also has a best&worst violent movies list. Stumbled across that after I watched Straw Dogs for the first time last week, damn what a great movie that was. This article claims that there’s an “African Quentin Tarantino”, and did you know Elmore Leonard’s son is also a novelist? There’s a homage video at a student film festival for those living close to it. Another review of Sukiyaki Western Django you can read here and also one right here. And here’s a bit about Sam Jackson for the fans of the man. There’s even another Grindhouse review right here. And if you want to read a rather pointless review of Pulp Fiction, enjoy. And for those who love Sid Haig as much as I do, here’s a nice article about how he got back into the acting business. My favorite Sid Haig movie quote? “The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin'” – which is of course from House of 1000 Corpses. Release Killshot already, Harvey! Here’s another bit on the movie’s long journey. And we’re closing up with an article about Greg Nicotero (the N in KNB). Enjoy reading and see you soon with more Inglorious Basterds coverage, check our forums for the latest buzz.
